New year. It's almost cliché how predictable we all become at this time of year, setting resolutions and planning our next moves. But there's a reason for it - these calendar anchor points work with our psychology, giving us a clear moment to begin something new. Here's how I plan to make 2026 the best year yet. The Visual MapI map everything out on a whiteboard. A visual flow of how I envision the business to run. Once it's on the board, I can see the whole the big picture at a glance. Breaking It DownThen throughout the year, I break it down by asking one simple question: "What's the most important thing I can do this day/week/month?" Not everything. The task that, if completed, makes everything else easier or unnecessary. That's it. That's the system. And it's likely in 12 months time when I look back at my whiteboard vision that 50% of it doesn't even get done. Because when you take action things change. And abandon what isn't working. That's the secret to building a startup! Your TurnWhat's your plan for 2026? How are you mapping out your year? Hit reply and let me know. I read every response. Let's make this year count. If you've been running a team for years, you've been trained to delegate. Something not worth your time?...
I was in Singapore recently and caught up with a mate who coaches some of Australia's most successful entrepreneurs. He's written books on it. Spent years figuring out what separates people who consistently perform from those who just work hard and stay stuck. He told me my edge is 'the innovator.' Someone who has a feel for how things work across all types of businesses and niches... and can piece together old methods with new technology. I didn't disagree. But I also hadn't thought about it...
One of the most challenging decisions business owners have today is: When do I go all in on AI? And the answer isn't straight forward. For example, we're continuing to debate whether to rebuild our entire website and move off Wordpress to a custom solution. Long-term it makes total sense. Every few months it becomes easier and easier. And I've seen a number of people spend 3-4 weeks moving to an AI first, vibe-coded solution for serious websites. (of course you can stand up a few simple pages...
